Hello dear friends
and family!!
As many of you know
Jason and I are in the beginning stages of the adoption process. And I had
mentioned that there may be some opportunities for you to be involved in our
journey. It takes a village to raise a child and it also takes a whole
community to complete an adoption. We need you, more than that, we would love
for you join us on this crazy ride.
We firmly believe that God will provide all
the funding we need every step of the way and want to give opportunities for
others to be used by Him, that He may work through this community. Because He is bringing this family finally together.
Our next step is to
complete our home study. The home study consists of at least three visits in
which Jason and I will meet with a case manager from our agency. It's pretty
much a long interview with background checks and inspections. We'll talk about
our relationship, our family histories, belief systems, parenting styles,
employment, education, finances…everything. The last visit must take place in
the residence of placement, where the children will live after the adoption.
$1500 is due on the
first visit and $1500 is due on the last visit.
This is your
opportunity to be used by God in simple ways to give an orphan a home, a baby
parents, or a family to waiting children.
GARAGE SALE!
Our first
fundraising adventure is a garage sale.
I am writing specifically to those of
you living in or around the metro area. We are in need of a garage in a prime location to be borrowed for a
couple of days at the end of August or the beginning of September. I will
transport the items, man the sale, and clean up after. All we need is space.
I am also writing
specifically to those of you who had voiced interest in donating unwanted items
for the sale and those who live near family who may want to get rid of some
unwanted things. This is the perfect opportunity for those who wish to be
involved but are not able to do so financially. Your donations of unwanted
stuffs will get us closer to our goal of financing our home study! So
"spring clean" and gather up the clutter, ask your friends and
neighbors if they have junk they want to get rid of. We want it. Anything not
sold will be donated to our local Goodwill.
I'll make
arrangements to pick up donations throughout the metro area.
Grand Rapids and
surrounding area residents may drop off donations at my parents' home and I
will make a quick trip to pick them up on August 19. If you have large items,
please call ahead to ensure I will have space in my car. Message me and we can chat about drop off times, location, and size.
Thank you so much
for your willingness to be involved, your shared excitement and support, and
your openness to be used along this journey! We are so grateful for you and
rejoice because of you.
"Now to him who
is able to do immeasurably more than we could ask or imagine..."
