Adoption is a
ministry?
Yes, it can be when
we allow God to work through it and use it. For us, adoption is so much more
than getting "our children." Adoption is a calling. It is part of
living out our faith -- how we love our neighbor, allowing your pro-life
perspective to change the way you live,
taking care of the orphan, sacrificing for the weary, weak, oppressed;
following Christ wherever he leads.
We minster to the children we eventually adoption, through the rest of their lives. We minster to the children whose files we see yet so not adopt. We are committed to pray for these little ones and their family long after our own family is complete. We minister to the parents and families -- those whose parental rights have been taken away, praying that they may find what they are looking for in Christ; for the pregnant moms who are making difficult decisions, for the grandparents whose relationship with these children will forever be changed.
As it is our commitment to be open and honest
about this journey, we are being open to the ways God wants to provide. We want
to give opportunities for those who feel called to give and join us in this
journey to do so. It may take a village to raise a child, and it takes a
community to complete an adoption.
If you do feel
called to give, you may:
- Bring a family together.
- Bring love and family to children who have been waiting in the foster care system -- (sibling groups and those with special needs are difficult to place and may be waiting for a long time. We are looking for these little ones!).
- Bring hope to a woman with an unexpected pregnancy -- the hope of an adoption may be what keeps her carrying this babe and we would hope to continue a relationship with her.
- Follow God's command to look after the fatherless, orphaned, and weary.
- Allow yourself to be used by God and see amazing miracles with your own eyes.
- Be blessed for your generosity and sacrifice.
I urge you to
prayerfully consider if God may be calling you to be involved. And maybe it is
not specifically this ministry (our adoption journey), but another that you are
being called. A thousand small gifts can bring about huge change. And each gift
is appreciated and we are ever grateful for your willingness to join us for
this crazy adventure.
You can give of your
time -- in prayer, or helping with fundraisers.
You can give of your
talents and skills -- in homemade goods auctions and bake sales
You can also give
your unwanted items for our garage sale(s).
And you can give
financially, if you are called.
If you have always
felt a pull towards adoption but have not been able to adopt, this may be your
opportunity to be involved. If you have heard about the wonderful blessing of
adoption, this could be your chance to see its blessings for yourself.
Yes, you are helping us bring children into our home. But you are also bringing a home and family to children who desperately want it.
Thank you to those who have already been called to give and did. We are so grateful to have your support and encouragement.
